From the Hot Press Photo Archive: Def Leppard
Thirty two years have passed since Joe Elliott's boys became first acting in chart history to sell seven million copies of two consecutive albums: Pyromania and Hysteria.
Hysteria, their third LP (mixed in Dublin’s Windmill Lane Studios), is still their best selling record with over 20 million copies sold worldwide.
With these impressive numbers in mind, we wanted to have a look at the times before and right after the whole Leppard ‘hysteria’ happened through photographs that we keep in our archive. Catch them playing live captured by Cathal Dawson, hiding behind laundry on a photoshoot by Ireland’s first female rock photographer Una Williams, or even at the Jameson Gold Cup in Fairyhouse back in 1988. ‘Pour some sugar on’ your coffee and enjoy this rock of ages gallery!
