Rosie O'Donnell on Trump protests: "Please show up-we'll give him the welcome he deserves"

US comedian Rosie O'Donnell has endorsed the anti-Trump protest in Dublin that will take place on Saturday, September 12, in a post on Instagram.

She moved to Ireland in January 2025 with her child, following Donald Trump's re-election as president. O'Donnell and Trump have been in a 19-year public feud, following comments she made about Trump on US talk show The View. 

In July 2025 President Trump made a post on his social media platform Truth Social threatening to revoke Rosie O'Donnell's US citizenship. Under US law, a president is unable to revoke the citizenship of an American born in the United States.

Trump will be in Ireland from September 12 to 13, he will visit President Catherine Connolly on Saturday, before going to his golf course in Doonbeg, Co. Clare to attend the Irish Open.

The 'No Welcome For Trump' protest will begin at the Garden of Remembrance at 1 pm, before moving through the city center via O'Connell Street, the protest will end on Molesworth Street.

There are several other anti-Trump protests happening around Ireland over the weekend, including in Clare, Cork, and Galway.

There will be a protest in Clare on Saturday, September 12, with the Shannonwatch Vigil and Peace Camp protesting at Shannon Airport Peace roundabout. Trump will be flying into Shannon Airport before going to Doonbeg.

On Sunday, September 13, from 7 am onwards, the Shannonwatch Vigil and Peace Camp will be stationed at Doonbeg and Shannon Airport. The protests have been organised by a number of rights groups including People of Clare Against Genocide and US Military Out of Shannon.

There will be a protest in Cork on Saturday, September 12, organised by the Cork Palestine Solidarity Campaign. The 'Give Trump 1,000 Unwelcomes' protest will begin at Grand Parade at 1 pm.

There will be protests at the G hotel in Galway, as the hotel is rumoured to be where Trump's security detail is staying. The protests will occur from September 11-13, from 5.45 pm to 7.15 am each day. The protest has been planned by a number of organisations including Galway Palestine Solidarity Campaign and Galway Alliance Against War.
