Rapper DigDat jailed for life over Notting Hill drive-by shooting
Tokosi had eight previous convictions for 13 offences and had spent seven years in youth detention for attempted murder.
Rapper Nathan Tokosi, known as DigDat, has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 24 years for a drive-by shooting in West London.
DigDat is best known for his tracks 'New Dior' and 'Ei8ht Mile' featuring Aitch. His first single, 'Sales and Joints', was released in 2018.
The attack happened in Notting Hill on November 20, 2023, when artist Daniel Offei-Ntow, who performed as Lugavelz, was shot six times while sitting in his car. He was "lucky not to die", according to the prosecution.
Tokosi, 26, from Deptford, was convicted of attempted murder and firearms offences following two trials last year.
The court heard the shooting was “premeditated, reckless and malicious”, carried out from a stolen Audi that had been driven around the area beforehand. Firearms officers found the victim’s car “riddled with bullet holes” and the interior “covered in blood”.
Daniel Offei-Ntow was later discovered by police sitting on a sofa in his apartment "in shock and severely injured". Tokosi was identified at the scene by CCTV and DNA evidence, and a gun and ammunition were found close by.
There was "no innocent explanation" for the cars being in the same West London location, according to the prosecution.
Sentencing Tokosi, Judge Sarah Munro KC said she was “in no doubt” he was a dangerous offender.
The judge imposed a life sentence on Tokoshi despite mitigation, describing him as a “laidback” young man caught up in the “fast-paced and chaotic” lifestyle of sudden musical success.
