Yard Act announce biggest Irish headline show yet
Tickets on sale Tuesday, October 18th at 10am.
Yard Act will perform their biggest headline Irish show yet at Vicar Street on April 26th, 2023
The Leeds-formed act have been nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize 2022 for their debut album The Overload.
The outfit was crated in September 2019 when Ryan Needham found himself temporarily living in James Smith's spare bedroom. Settling into a system of programming, looping, and layering, the alchemy between the two created a base from which to build their complex and ever-expanding narrative world. Sam Shjipstone (guitar) and Jay Russell (drums) complete the line-up.
Prior to the announcement of their debut album, the band had only released a total of four singles independently. These singles were then compiled onto an EP, titled Dark Days, released in 2021. Their lyrics are often political, discussing opposition to topics including capitalism, gentrification and social class, told using dark humour and cynical storytelling.
“Ryan is a vibe guy, whereas I overthink everything,” laughs Smith. “It’s been the greatest creative partnership I've ever had. When you find a groove that works, it just kind of looks after itself.”
Tickets on sale Tuesday, October 18th at 10am from singular artists.
