Wholly Smoke
If your idea of hilarity is a "I like the Pope - The Pope smokes dope" t-shirt then you might dig this
Not sure what the agenda here is.
The opening gambit from Pete Pamf the kind of stuff that gives funk a bad name and with a vocal equally as annoying as its preposterous title (‘Babybubbababy’. Please!). It gets worse before it gets better, Spill’s ‘The Greatest Lover’ is a dull grope in the dark and The Flaps ‘One Armed Baby Killer’ is the kind of bloated rock monstrosity you’d think people had finally got out of their system.
Sure, there are some passable exceptions; the subtle psycheldelia of ‘Hu Ha Vit’ by Clive, Thaddeus Buckley’s fine ear for a ballad on ‘Johnny in the Deep Green’, DeJimbe’s fine trad working of ‘Cogadh’. Keltic Posse’s reggae and roots soundclash is rather good despite the ludicrous title of ‘Superintelligentalienbeing’.
Was one of the rules of inclusion to up with the worst track name possible?
If your idea of hilarity is a “I like the Pope – The Pope smokes dope” t-shirt then you might dig this. If not, then there's too much chaff in with the herb.
Hardly the real deal.
