Watch: Sylvan Esso goes acoustic
The indie pop duo reimagines their music with help from Jenn Wasner of Wye Oak
Sylvan Esso have been releasing videos this week from their upcoming visual EP, Echo Mountain Sessions on NPR. The album was named for Echo Mountain studios in Ashville, North Carolina where Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn gathered together friends from Wye Oak, The Mountain Goats, Hiss Golden Messenger, Mountain Man and Megafaun. Together, they reimagined Sylvan Esso songs, adding in instruments and a live sound that the duo hasn’t featured in their music before.
The newest video release is of ‘Slack Jaw’ — a bare-boned, haunting ballad featuring Jann Wasner on the piano and Meath’s hypnotizing voice.
Echo Mountain Sessions will be released 28 July.
