Watch: Fontaines D.C. share video for latest single 'Favourite'
The track was released yesterday and is taken from the band's upcoming album Romance, out August 23.
Fontaines D.C. have released their latest single 'Favourite', alongside an original music video.
'Favourite' is the second song to be released from their upcoming album Romance, and acts as the album's closing track.
Following the release of 'Starbuster' in April, 'Favourite' sees the Irish post-punk rockers take on a gentler, nostalgic sound. It has a "never-ending sound to it, a continuous cycle from euphoria to sadness, two worlds spinning forever," expressed vocalist Grian Chatten.
The accompanying self-directed video documents a recent trip to Madrid intertwined with childhood footage of the five band members. The Spanish capital is the birthplace of guitarist Carlos O'Connell and acted as a base for the band on their first tour.
"This video is a reminiscence of the past- of each other's childhoods we didn't know. To see people we know on an intimate level as adults in the tender ages of childhood," said bassist Conor Deegan.
Continuing, he explained that the video hopes to serve as a way of honouring our friendships and, from that, the relationships we hold dear. "We haven't lost that connection to each other and are not afraid to come of age again, holding on to romance in a sometimes trying world."
The band first performed 'Favourite' in Brooklyn back in April - with the song set to feature during their appearance on Later With Jools Holland on June 22.
Elsewhere, Fontaines D.C. recently kicked off their 2024 tour, which will eventually bring them to Dublin with two sold-out shows this December.
