WATCH: Enigmatic new Irish duo Topline share disco gem 'Blue Velvet'
One of the most radio-friendly Irish disco-pop anthems in recent memory, 'Blue Velvet' is built for summer dancefloors.
Rising disco outfit Topline have shared their debut single in the form of irresistible track, 'Blue Velvet'.
Accompanied by an eagle-eye, DIY-inspired lyric video, 'Blue Velvet' takes inspiration from French dance music along the lines of Daft Punk - not to mention disco heroes CHIC and Sister Sledge.
The mysterious band of brothers have kept information on their act to a minimum on their social media platforms, but a press release perfectly describes their pop nostalgia:
"Hailing from the fourth circle of disco hell, Topline brings forth the past & present of pop music to create a new irresistible sound. Discover what the two brothers will forge this summer as soon as you can."
Armed with swirling synths, a chorus that refuses to leave your head and the effortless pop beats that call Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia album to mind, 'Blue Velvet' has put Irish duo Topline firmly on the map.
As FM 104's Al Gibbs commented, “You either have a catchy sound or you don’t – they clearly have it.”
