WATCH: Ed Sheeran's song for Hobbit soundtrack

When you think of fire-breathing dragons and JRR Tolkien, your mind probably doesn't immediately leap to the heartfelt acoustic stylings of Ed Sheeran.

The 22-year-old star is front and centre, however, on the soundtrack for the forthcoming second installment of Peter Jackson's Hobbit franchise.

The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug hits Irish screens on December 13 and, ahead of that, we've got the film's lead song.

'I See Fire' is Sheeran's first new work in two years. The video, which you can see below, finds the artist recording said track and, more excitingly, is interspersed with footage from the much-anticipated film.
