WATCH: Brian May Unveils Plaque for Freddie Mercury

"The last thing on Earth that we we would have thought would have been that I would be here at this point commemorating a blue plaque to my friend’s memory," Brian tells his audience in a speech which saw the Queen guitar player share fond memories of his friend.

Freddie Mercury died in 1991 at the age of 45 due to complications from AIDS. He has since been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has received numerous accolades, but May stresses what this plaque means to him on a personal level. May recalls their earliest brushes with rock music and how Freddie's home acted as a cornerstone for the growth of the band that would go on to be one of the most successful in music history.
