Vyvienne Long set to play six Irish dates
She's bringing along the Balanescu Quartet.
Damien Rice’s pal Vyvienne Long has announced details of her String Collision tour, which finds her joined on stage by the amplified Balanescu Quartet.
They’ll be stopping off at The Holy Trinity Church, Fethard (February 28); Triskel Arts Centre, Cork (March 1); Freemason’s Hall, Dublin (2); The Druid, Galway (7); The Dock, Carrick-On-Shannon (8) and Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray (9).
Fronted by virtuoso Romanian violinist Alexander Balanescu, the avant-garde quartet’s collaborative CV already includes David Byrne, Pet Shop Boys, Michael Nyman, Spiritualized, Kate Bush and Kraftwerk.
Ms. Long has written new material for the jaunt as well as arranging tracks that appeared on her well-received 2010 album, Caterpillar Sarabande.
