Track of the Day: Trophy Wife shares indie-pop gem 'Apartment' from debut EP Art

Irish alternative pop artist Trophy Wife, real name Ruby Smith, recently released her debut EP 'Art' on November 6th - a strong six-track offering that shows off her roots and influences to sonic perfection.

'Apartment' is a more indie-rock sounding track than much of her EP, which incorporates unusual synths and sounds for a texturally layered project from the artist, who is fresh out of college.

The songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer behind Trophy Wife wrote her 'Art' EP while living in Barcelona two years ago, and has plans to perform it with a full live band once Covid eventually comes to an end.

'Apartment' is a confident and smart alt-pop song with nods to funk and contemporary artists Ruby cites as influences, like MUNA, King Princess and Clairo.

All the elements of 'Apartment' line up perfectly, with guitar, harmonised vocals and underlying beat merging together for a soulful feel.
