Track of The Day: Owen Lamont – 'Nobody'
'Just Smile' is due for release this year.
Owen Lamont is gearing up for his album release, with 'Nobody'. Channeling soul and funk music through his songwriter heritage with the third single from his upcoming record – aptly titled Just Smile – the single is a vibrant tale of nostalgia and regret.
One of our 'Hot for 2019' acts, Lamont is aided by a backline of soulful harmonies and funk infused blues rhythms. The track was "inspired by a poem called 'Antagonish' by William Hughes Mearns. It revolves around the idea of living with your ghost/past lover," says Lamont.
"In terms of the sound of the track, one of the coolest things for me was watching Meilana Gillard riff the saxophone solos from scratch in the recording studios," Lamont continues. "She's incredible, and the track is infinitely better for having that creative improvisation throughout. I smile every time I hear it.”
