Track Of The Day: Fake Friends, ‘Better’
‘Better’ is the third single to be released from Fake Friends’ upcoming EP.
This is the third single to be released from the Irish indie-rock duo Fake Friends' upcoming EP, which is coming out at the end of the year. ‘Better’ features lead singer Cathal Flaherty performing a deeply personal and heartfelt message.
Through vulnerable lyrics, Flaherty engages in an earnest conversation with his younger self as a boy, and provides him with a message to let him know that although he may suffer hardships in life, things will eventually get better.
Flaherty sings “I wrote a letter to my younger self, a boy I used to know. I told him, you don’t need to worry, there’s some things you can’t control’.

Since forming in the pandemonium of 2020, Fake Friends have released captivating debut single ‘Maybe’ in March of this year, with the catchy ‘Girlfriend’ following in July. The duo, comprising Cathal Flaherty and Patrick Kelly, have appeared twice on the RTE recommendations list, and have been played on several national radio stations.
“We are so proud of this single”, says Cathal Flaherty.
He continues, “It has been the one song we have looked forward to people hearing the most since our formation and we can’t wait to have this out to the world. I think many people will resonate with it as much as we do”.
