Tom Hingley, formerly of The Inspiral Carpets, Plays The Underground This Sunday
The Carpet man, who isn't called Des Kelly, comes to town.
Former Inspiral Carpet, Tom Hingley, appears this Sunday, 15th October, at The Underground, on Dublin's Dame St. An acoustic set, mixing Carpet classics and solo material, is promised, with doors opening at 8. Tickets, €12, are available from eventbrite.ie.
The recently opened Underground is modelled on the venue of the same name which was located on (almost) the same spot in the 1980s. Dave Judge, of the iconic Abner Browns Barbershop, is behind the project, which aims to recreate the spirit of the original basement club with regular performances from up-and-comers, with a few surprise appearances thrown in.
"I think there’s an opening in the city centre for a small intimate venue where independent acts can start out and network," he said. "I’ve gotten to know a lot of people on the scene in the last couple of years and hope to bring something new to the city."
