Thin Lizzy’s Classic Song ‘The Boys Are Back In Town’ Like You Never Heard It Before
To mark the 31st anniversary of Phil Lynott’s tragic death yesterday (4 January), Glen Austin's New Airs recorded a classical arrangement of Thin Lizzy’s ‘The Boys Are Back in Town’, which has just been uploaded onto social media websites.
Their brilliant interpretation of the classic rock song – in which they use violin, viola, cello, and percussion – was recorded live at The Boys School at Smock Alley Theatre in Dublin on 3 January.
Phil Lynott’s band originally recorded the song in 1976 and it went to the top of the charts in Ireland and was a top 10 hit in the UK. It was included in 2004 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time. While Q magazine also included the track on its list of 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks back in 2005.
