The The to play their first live shows in sixteen years, announce new box set collection
After releasing their first new material last April, Matt Johnson and co. are set to make their live comeback in June, with two dates scheduled.
The The will perform at Heartland Festival in Denmark on June 1st and at the Royal Albert Hall on June 5th. No further dates have been announced, however, the group confirmed via their website that a three-disc vinyl box-set will be released on October 20th, entitled Radio Cineola Trilogy:
A Broadcast By The The.
The three discs, called 'The End of the Day: songs/ interpretations/ performance', 'The Inertia Variations: poetry/ soundscapes/ spoken word' and 'Midnight to Midnight: electronic scores / political commentaries / broadcasts' will feature contributions from artists such as JG Thirwell, Johnny Marr and Thomas Leer among many other former members and collaborators of Johnson's.
Included will be 'You Can't Stop What's Coming', which featured the former-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr and was released last April for World Record Store Day.
