Beth Orton announces new album The Ground Above
Listen to ‘Waiting’ below.
Beth Orton has announced her new album The Ground Above, set to be released on June 26 via Partisan Records.
Alongside the news, the English musician has released the single ‘Waiting’, which she described as "a celebration of moving out of the holding pattern fear keeps us in."
Orton's upcoming record is said to be her most direct and unapologetic yet. Described as urgent, raw, embodied and emotionally fearless, The Ground Above explores themes such as survival, renewal, motherhood, identity, and political unease.
Known for her folktronica sound, Orton's upcoming record is set to feature Nick Hakim, multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily, drummer and percussionist Tom Skinner, and The Vernon Spring's Sam Beste.
Trumpet player Christos Styliande, bassist Tom Herbert, Austrian singer-songwriter Dave Okumu, and drummers Chris Vatalaro, Vishal Nayak, and Paul Butler are also set to feature in The Ground Above.
Orton has also announced a UK and US tour, which will kick off in Washington, DC, on September 15.
The Ground Above is Orton's second self-produced album, following the 2022 debut album for Partisan Records Weather Alive.
