The Coronas come out on top in battle with Fontaines D.C. for No.1 album
Both homegrown bands currently star in our double-cover special issue of Hot Press.
In one of the most thrilling Irish chart competitions of recent memory, The Coronas have taken the top slot on the Official Irish Albums Chart – while Fontaines D.C.'s new album debuts at No.2.
Both The Coronas' True Love Waits and Fontaines D.C.'s A Hero's Death were released last Friday, July 31 – winning over fans and critics alike as two of the mostly hotly anticipated Irish releases of the year.
On the midweek charts, Fontaines D.C. led the race by 350 charts sales, with A Hero's Death already proving to be Ireland's fastest selling vinyl of the year.
Both homegrown bands also happen to star in our current double-cover special issue of Hot Press – featuring in-depth interviews with the groups about the makings of their new albums.
Coming in at No.3 on the Official Irish Albums Chart is Taylor Swift, with Folklore, followed by Dermot Kennedy – making three of the four slots on this week's chart dominated by Irish artists.
