The Coronas achieve highest Irish chart entry
The Long Way is at No. 2, just beneath pop behemoth One Direction.
The Coronas make their major label debut with The Long Way and it has achieved major sales in its first week of release. The record enters the Irish Albums Chart at No. 2 this week, going one better than predecessor Closer To You. The Dublin band, now based in London, recently touched base for an extensive interview with Hot Press. Read all about it in our bumper Christmas/ New Year issue.
It means One Direction remain at No. 1 with Four. The album made chart history in the US this past week, as Harry Styles and co became the first group to see their first four albums top the Billboard 200 consecutively.
In third position we have an old chart favourite in Ed Sheeran's X, while the similarly successful Hozier is just below. Sam Smith's In The Lonely Hour rounds off the Top 5, while Taylor Swift flies the flag for female artists; her 1989 is at No. 6.
Olly Murs' Never Been Better debuts at No. 7, while another new entry, David Guetta's instructively-titled Listen, is at No. 9. Our own Script see their No Sounds Without Silence become the filling in that particular pop-dance sandwich.
Elsewhere, Boyzone's album of Motown covers, Dublin To Detroit, is at No. 12.
