The Band's Last Waltz goes to the opera!
The 'Live' Last Waltz, a spectacular re-enactment of The Band's swan-song documentary concert, will appear at The Wexford Opera House in August.
It will feature a ten piece band, full brass section, and special guests who will commemorate the history and music of The Band and what is regarded as the greatest rock and roll concert of all time.
The Last Waltz was a 'farewell to the road' concert in San Francisco in 1976. Special guests on the night performing alongside The Band included Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Ronnie Hawkins, Muddy Waters, Dr. John, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Joni Mitchell, Paul Butterfield, poet Lawrence Ferlingetti and many more. A film of the event was directed by Martin Scorsese.
The 'Live' Last Waltz tribute concert is performed by Irish musicians known as The Group.
