The Australians return with their sophomore effort, some 16 years after LP No. 1
The Avalanches have announced that their single-album career output is to be doubled, with the release of Wildflower.
The Australian electronic group burst onto the scene at the end of the '90s, with their 2000 record – the altogether aptly named Since I Left You – now subject to mythical status. A follow-up seemed, for a long time, to be a pipe dream for fans, but confirmation has arrived today that the sophomore album 16 years in the making will hit shelves on July 8.
“What kept us going during the making this record was a belief in the day-to-day experience of music as a life force - as life energy," said an altogether contemplative Robbie Chater. "Hearing a certain song on a certain morning can change your day; it can make the world look different, changing the way you perceive light refracting through the atmosphere for the rest of the afternoon. Literally changing the colour and feeling-tone of your world."
The first single from the record, 'Frankie Sinatra', has been unveiled – give it a go below.
