The 2 Johnnies release Irish language version of 'When I Play for County'
The Irish language version is titled 'Nuair a Imreoidh Mé don Chontae'.
Tipperary podcasters, The 2 Johnnies, have released a new as Gaeilge performance of ‘When I Play for the County'.
The Irish language version of the hit tune, was part of an Irish language promotion campaign titled Creidim Ionat (I Believe In You), a Foras na Gaeilge initiative in partnership with RTÉ.
The 2 Johnnies, as part of the campaign were mentored by radio producer and presenter, Aindriú De Paor, to record their hit single ‘When I Play for the County’ entirely as Gaeilge.
The video, also comes accompanied by a music video, which Foras na Gaeilge plans to share throughout the month of June, with every Irish medium school, college and camp on the island with accompanying lesson plans.
The news comes as part of what has been a blockbuster year for the 2 Johnnies, who recently brought their part live podcast show, part live gig, to St Anne's Park last weekend (June 8).
The Tipperary duo will also play a slot at the Galway Summer Sessions on August 17 and a Limerick show on September 1.
The pair also made headlines after they left RTÉ 2fm's drivetime programme, which they hosted since 2022, and attracted an audience of 151,000.
