Taylor Swift wax figure to appear in The National Wax Museum in Dublin
"She is a cultural phenomenon whose impact spans music, fashion, and storytelling, and her Irish descent from both her mother’s and father’s families adds a special Irish connection to the launch," said Paddy Dunning, the museum director.
A new waxwork of global superstar Taylor Swift is set to be unveiled next week at The National Wax Museum in Dublin.
The figure, which joins the museum’s permanent music and entertainment collection, was created by a team of artists to capture Swift's record-breaking Eras Tour as stated by RTÉ.
Taylor Swift's ancestry has been traced by EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum, revealing her roots are connected to Irish immigrants. Her family, including a great-grandfather from Dublin and relatives from Derry, emigrated from Ireland to Philadelphia in the 1830s.
Ireland has also featured in Swift's music. Her song "Sweet Nothing" from the 2022 album Midnights includes the lyric, “Does it ever miss Wicklow sometimes?” This line is a reference to a holiday she took in Ireland in 2021 with her former partner, British actor Joe Alwyn, who was in the country at the time filming the adaptation of Sally Rooney's Conversations with Friends.
"We are delighted to welcome Taylor Swift to the National Wax Museum Plus," said Paddy Dunning, the museum director. "She is a cultural phenomenon whose impact spans music, fashion, and storytelling, and her Irish descent from both her mother’s and father’s families adds a special Irish connection to the launch. She also shares her surname with one of Ireland’s most celebrated literary figures, Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver’s Travels, whom we also have a wax figure of. Having two prolific writers named Swift in our museum offers our visitors a unique opportunity to connect two cultural icons across generations within the same space."
