Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd co-founder, dies at 60
Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett, one of the founding members of the legendary rock band Pink Floyd, has died from diabetes in his Cambridge home at the age of 60.
In the late 60s he was the lead singer of the psychedelic outfit and recorded one album with the group. He left the band before they went on to worldwide fame with concept albums like The Dark Side Of The Moon, but left a lasting impact on Pink Floyd and the music world.
Barrett released a few solo projects after leaving Pink Floyd, until 1972. He departed the music scene in favour of a reclusive life in Cambridge, UK, up until his death on Friday July 7.
His brother Alan confirmed his death to the paper, saying: "He died peacefully at home. There will be a private family funeral in the next few days."
