Suego Faults
Wolf’s gang should grow in numbers thanks to this impressive debut.
Bursting out of the speakers like the bastard off-spring of Kate Bush and Empire of the Sun, Max McElligot (AKA Wolf Gang) has created a sprawling sonic tapestry for his debut album Suego Faults. It’s a release that will appeal to fans of orchestral pop. Lovingly stitched together with the help of Mercury Rev and Flaming Lips producer Dave Fridmann, the LP regularly veers from synth funk pop tunes such as ‘The King And All His Men’ to Bowie-esque shuffling ditties such as ‘Midnight Dancers’ as McElligot’s broken melodies spill over the wall of sound like an overfilled champagne glass. With bands like the Scissor Sisters and MGMT going off the boil of late, don’t be too surprised if Wolf Gang ends up replacing them as he certainly has the songs to do it.
