D4vd cancels Dublin show amid investigation into dead teen found in his car
Dublin's 3Olympia Theatre said on its website the show "is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances."
D4vd has cancelled all upcoming US and Europe tour dates, including a show in Dublin, amid an investigation into the body of a missing teen found in his car.
The 20-year-old singer-songwriter, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was set to continue his Withered 2025 World Tour in the US this month before launching a two-month European tour with a show at Dublin's 3Olympia Theatre on October 14.
Ticketmaster now displays "There are no upcoming concerts in United States" for the US leg and all European dates have been marked "Cancelled." At the time of writing, some November shows in Australia are still available for purchase.
The 3Olympia Theatre said on its website the show "is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances" and confirmed refunds will be issued at point of purchase.
On September 8, Los Angeles police discovered heavily decomposed human remains in the boot of an impounded Tesla registered to Burke. The local medical examiner later confirmed the body to be that of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, who was reported missing on April 5, 2024.
"She appears to have been deceased inside the vehicle for an extended period of time before being found," said the Los Angeles medical examiner’s office.
Police have not released a cause of death, but said it is considered a homicide. Police said Burke has been cooperating with their investigation.
Rivas' mother identified the body as her daughter's, and told TMZ that her daughter had been dating someone named "David" before her disappearance.
The Rivas Hernandez family have launched a fundraiser on GoFundMe to lay her body to rest. They said Celeste "was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and friend" and "her family is heartbroken and devastated by this tragic loss."
According to local news, police searched a Hollywood Hills residence previously occupied by Burke as part of the investigation last week, during which they confiscated a computer and various other pieces of evidence.
The medical examiner identified a tattoo on Rivas' right index finger reading "shhh...". Recent photos of Burke show a matching tattoo, though it is a popular design among celebrities including Rihanna and Lindsay Lohan.
The Sun reported that a song titled 'Celeste' had been posted onto SoundCloud and credited to d4vd. Lyrics in 'Celeste' (Including, "nobody ever caught me but I spoke too soon in the back of a police car / I ain’t telling nothing, do the same if they ask you about her") as well as his other work have now been brought into question due to their questionable themes.
His merchandise and tour frequently contain imagery related to death; A shirt designed to appear bloodstained has since been pulled from his website, and his tour props include a casket and guestbook set up at the venue for fans to interact with.
The Los Angeles Times reported police were attempting to piece together Rivas' movements before her body was found and identify any connection between them.
Police said Burke has been cooperating with the investigation, but have yet to issue a statement on Burke's connection, if any, with Rivas.
Burke is best known for his TikTok viral songs 'Romantic Homicide' and 'Here With Me', along with his anthem for the video game Fortnite and collaborations with musicians Kali Uchis, Hyunjin (Stray Kids), Laufey and 21 Savage.
Following the identification of the remains, Kali Uchis removed their collaborative song 'Crashing' from streaming services. Replying to a fan's comment on Instagram, she said Burke was "not my friend" and added "I did a song with him which is currently in the process of being taken down given today’s disturbing news."
Crocs and Hollister Co. also removed promotional content featuring Burke while awaiting the results of the investigation.
