Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings return to Dublin
The champions of authentic soul will appear at Tripod
This visit follows the band's 2008 show in the Button Factory - which saw the audience calling for two encores, having been captivated by the grooves of some of the worlds finest soul musicians and the moves of their mesmerizing front woman.
The Dap Kings first came to the attention of their now wide international audience with the release of their album 100 Days, 100 Nights, as well as their stint as Amy Winehouse's backing band on the platinum selling Back to Black. However, since then the Dap Kings have continued their efforts to keep the flame of sixties and seventies authentic soul going strong with their gritty analog recordings and traditional methods.
Live, the band maintains a swagger and sophistication - and keep a tight ship reminiscent of the funk and soul backing bands of old, while the enigmatic Jones flirts with the audience, powering through the set with a voice comparable to greats like Tina Turner, James Brown, Mavis Staples, and even Aretha.
The band will be doing it all over again in Dublin's Tripod on Saturday November 6. Tickets are €25.00 excluding booking, available from www.tickets.ie, www.ticketmaster.ie or www.choicecuts.ie.
