RuthAnne Cunningham's song to feature on new Diana Ross album
The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter has written for artists like Niall Horan and Britney Spears.
Irish singer-songwriter RuthAnne Cunningham has shared that her new song will be featured on Diana Ross' upcoming album.
On Virgin Media's Six O'Clock Show this weekend, the Grammy-nominated songwriter said, "I just found out it was going ahead because I wrote it a year ago but Diana Ross has recorded one of my new songs for her album. And it's coming out very soon! I sing backgrounds in it with the girls and I wrote it with an all-female crew in LA so we're just so, so excited that it's coming out.
Cunningham said it took a year and seven months to get confirmation that her song would be on Ross' album, which will be the first new album in 15 years for the legendary American singer.
The feature on Ross' album is not the only exciting project Cunningham is working on, however. She is a part of Irish Women in Harmony, a musical collective of 40 Irish women in music. Last year the musical group released a cover of 'Dreams' by the Cranberries, and on July 23 they released 'Only a Woman,' a contemporary reimagining of Eleanor McEvoy's 'Only A Woman's Heart.'
Cunningham has confirmed that a new album is in the works for Irish Women in Harmony, but it's been difficult to get the women together to record for the album. So far, they've been working on their original songs and covers for the album remotely.
