Rough Trade announce second volume of 7-inch singles boxset
Focusing on tracks from the 80s and 90s, it will feature music from the likes of The Smiths, The Fall and Mazzy Star.
Rough Trade Records has announced a second volume of its boxset series, featuring key seven-inch singles from the label's history.
The nine-disc collection features repressings of hallmark singles from the 1980s to the early 1990s, marking the period when Rough Trade Records came of age.
Rough Trade 45s: Volume 2 will include records by The Fall's 'Totally Wired', Scritti Politti's 'The Sweetest Girl', Mazzy Star's 'Five String Serenade', The Go-Betweens' 'Cattle And Cane', The Smiths' 'Heatmaster Ritual' and Robert Wyatt's 'Shipbuilding', among others, all reprised with their original B-sides.
The new release follows the first instalment in the series, which arrived last year. The singles featured have been handpicked by Rough Trade's co-managing directors, Jeannette Lee and Geoff Travis, and represent a mix of key releases and personal favourites.
Sleeve notes for the set feature new interviews with Lee and Travis, plus contributions from artists such as Elvis Costello, Harriet Wheeler, Anton Corbijn and Stewart Lee.
The boxset is strictly limited to 1000 copies worldwide.
Rough Trade will release Rough Trade 45s: Volume 2 on October 30.
