Robyn Hitchcock & Venus 3 attract celeb-packed audience

The celebrated cult artist is known for having a celebrity fan base, and Bono and Michael Stipe were two of the names on people's lips in the run-up to the performance.
The band, comprising REM's Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey, played a storming set punctuated by gems of wit delivered by Hitchcock. The musician-heavy audience were enthusiastic and vocal in their appreciation of the band.
The Thrills were spotted jostling for a good viewing point and Thomas (Pugwash) and label manager Daragh from 1969 records were also in attendance.
After the performance Robyn patiently signed autographs and chatted with fans. Later in the band room Robyn and the Venus 3 enjoyed champagne sent by Bono and The Edge. They were joined by The Thrills and some shameless Hot Press liggers who shall remain nameless. Thanks for the bubbles Bono!
