TECH REVIEW: BT Smart home cam 100

Just because you’re not paranoid, doesn’t mean they don’t want to break into your home and steal your jewellery. BT have come up with a solution to cat burglars, or just troublesome cats. It’s CCTV without the horrors of a surveillance state.
This surreptitious device lets you stream video remotely through an iOS/Android smartphone, tablet, or computer, from afar. Setting it up is a doddle. Plug in the camera, pair it with your device, then download an app. Now you can access a live stream of your living quarters.
The app lets you watch the video stream, record or take images, or invite friends to watch your treacherous dog tearing the couch apart while you’re in the pub. The camera has motion and sound detection features that can trigger the monitor.
There is a catch, dammit. The motion detection system and access to stored images requires a monthly subscription – news that is (conveniently) not visible on the packaging.
