Review: Jägermeister Freezer Sessions, Dublin
The Dublin Freezer Sessions saw Other Creatures, Swords, Gangs and RSAG playing storming sets to a packed Workmans' Club last night.
Other Creatures kicked off the evening with a sublime Pixies/Cure-inspired set, justifying the current hype surrounding the trio. Tracks like 'Luxembourg' and 'Soft And Sweet' augur well for this outfit's future.
Swords then took to the stage to dazzle with a batch of gems from their latest outing Lions & Gold, Diane Anglim's ethereal vocals providing the magic dust on their dark compelling electro-pop fare.
Next up, the hotly-tipped Gangs shake up proceedings with their bubbly indie rock fare. The quartet brought to mind a Arctic Monkeys/Jam synthesis, peddling a fine blend of upbeat gangly guitar tunes delivered with impressive skill and endearing laddish swagger.
Final act of the night, RSAG was his mesmerising self, a one-man musical mix-tape pummelling out rhythms and beats from across the sonic spectrum. Favourites such as 'Falter', 'Stick To Your Line' and 'The Winding Sheet' induced dancing, air drumming and many whoops of delight.
Roll on Limerick....
