Qbanaa announces a headline show at Dublin's The Sound House
The Cuban-Irish artist Qbanaa has a show lined up at The Sound House later this month after releasing her second track 'Rise Above' in February
Jazzy neo-soul artist Qbanaa is headlining a show at The Sound House this month, on April 28th.
The Dublin-based artist debuted on the music scene last October with her single 'Truth and Desire,' a sultry, jazz-pop serenade. It went on to be listed in DJ Peter Curtin's 'Top 40 Irish Songs of the Year' and was nominated for Hot Press's Track of the Year. It also earned her a nomination for Hot Press's Most Promising Artist.
Her second track, 'Rise Above,' dropped only two months ago in February. It's a part of a two track EP collection with Dan Dohert of Darklands. Named the Track of the Week by Hot Press, it also served as a cover feature on the ‘A Breath of Fresh Éire’ playlist.
Travelling back and forth from Cuba to Ireland throughout her childhood fostered a love for the beauty of music and salsa dancing, which eventually blended with the inspiring soul, jazz, Latin, and contemporary musical genres to craft Qbanaa's amazing sound.
Now, her pseudonym is a take on "Cubana with a 'Q,'" meant to integrate the Irish pronunciation with "Cubana" to unite her two homes together.
“I really want this show to not only represent Qbanaa but also highlight the amazing artists I’ve been working with since the Dublin music scene has taken me in with the warmest arms and kindest community," the Cuban-Irish artist says.
"I’m really excited to pull through with brand-new songs for the Qbanaa supporters to take in. For the vibe think of neo soul/jazz and sultry majestic fairies with a ‘mi casa es su casa’ energy. It’s my most important show to date. I’m absolutely buzzing for it!”
