"We don’t really know where this is going” Sting tells the New York Times, “we don’t really have a clue how this is going to pan out."
Very successfully, judging by the stunning musical history of these two colossal artists. The tour, which bears the very literal title of "Paul Simon & Sting: On Stage Together," will take off on February 8 2014. The two will play 18 concerts in the States, finishing in Orlando Florida on March 16- with the possibility of further shows to be announced later.
The idea of joining forces came after the artists played together at a gig in May for the Robin Hood Foundation, where they performed acoustic renditions of Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘The Boxer’ and Sting's ‘Fields of Gold.’ As Simon later told the Times; “After we finished it, we both looked at each other and said, 'Wow. That's pretty interesting.”
The pair have actually known each other for many years now, as they both lived in the same building in New York. “For 20 years” joked Sting “this guy would be borrowing things all the time. Then I heard he was a songwriter.”

It is reported that, rather like Elton John and Billy Joel, each artist will play a solo set and then later duet with each other’s music, making for a climactic end to what will most certainly be a legendary show.
Tickets go on sale Wednesday morning.
