One dead and three others injured in fatal shooting at late rapper Nipsey Hussle's funeral procession.
One person was killed and three more were left injured as a result of a shooting that occurred yesterday during the funeral procession for late rapper Nipsey Hussle in LA.
Hussle's memorial was held yesterday morning at The Staples Center in celebration of the rapper's life and legacy after he was fatally shot on March 31 outside his clothing store in South Los Angeles.
On April 4, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office made an official announcement concerning Eric Ronald Holder Jr., who was charged with shooting Hussle and wounding two others in Los Angeles.
Several notable figures spoke at the memorial, including Snoop Dogg, Hussle's siblings and father, and Stevie Wonder who performed at the event.
Before performing live renditions of "Rocket Love" and "Tears in Heaven," Stevie Wonder spoke about the importance of gun legislation reform in America.
"It is a heartbreak to again lose a member of our family. It's a heartbreak because it's so unnecessary," he said, concerning Hussle's murder. "We, to be a civilized nation, civilized world, we are still living in a time where ego, anger, jealousy, is controlling our lives. It is so painful to know that we don't have enough people taking a position that say, 'Listen, we must have stronger gun laws.' It's unacceptable.
"It's almost like the world is becoming blind. I pray that we will grow. I pray that the leaders who have a responsibility to perpetuate life will do it by making sure that the laws will make it so very hard for people to have guns and to take their frustrations out to kill life."
Following the memorial's conclusion, Hussle's casket was driven along a 25.5-mile route in a procession which began at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles and ended at the Forest Lawn Cemetery. Fans and members of the community turned out in their thousands to pay their respects to Hussle.
During the procession, four people were shot at the intersection of 103 St. and Main St.
Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore confirmed that of the four victims, one had tragically died following the shooting, and that a suspect in a grey Hyundai vehicle is being sought.
In a tweet announcing the news, Moore said, "We must stop this senseless violence."
