Nick Cave and Warren Ellis announce new documentary, This Much I Know To Be True
The Andrew Dominik directed film will showcase Nick Cave and Warren Ellis' creative partnership
Long-time collaborators Nick Cave and Warren Ellis announced their new documentary, This Much I Know To Be True. The film is set to be released later this year, directed by Andrew Dominik.
The documentary highlights the duo's partnership across their last two studio albums, Ghosteen (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds) and Carnage (Nick Cave and Warren Ellis). Read the full announcement post from Cave below.
According to Deadline, the film was shot on location in London and Brighton in 2021. It will act as a companion piece to Cave's 2016 documentary, One More Time With Feeling.
“Interstitial pieces between the songs will 'illuminate the cosmology and themes of the music,” Deadline reports. “Viewers will hear about the process of Cave writing The Red Hand Files—the letters he chooses to answer and the replies themselves — and his method.”
Additionally, the film will feature an appearance from English artist Marianne Faithful and a workshop in which Cave is sculpting a series depicting the life of the Devil.
Dominik has previously worked with the pair on several projects, including One More Time With Feeling, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, and the anticipated Marilyn Monroe biopic, Blonde - set to be released this year.
Cave and Ellis' work has also been showcased in the 2014 film, 20,000 Days on Earth - the dramatisation of a day in the life of Cave.
This Much I Know To Be True's release will coincide with Cave and Ellis' first tour of the US as a duo.
