Neil Young cancels Cork show and other European dates
The 80-year old singer-songwriter was meant to perform in Virgin Media Park on July 1 with Elvis Costello and the Imposters as special guests.
Neil Young has unexpectedly cancelled the totality of his upcoming European tour, which was set to include a stop in Cork’s Virgin Media Park on July 1 with Elvis Costello and the Imposters as special guests.
The tour, with his backing band The Chrome Hearts, would have kicked off in June and featured festival headlines such as State Fayre and Blenheim Palace.
Speaking in a statement published to his website on Friday night, Young apologised for letting fans down, but added that “this is not the time.”
Over his six-decade long career, Young has received a number of accolades including two Grammys and nine Juno Awards and an induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Last year, he headlined at Glastonbury and took to the stage at BST Hyde Park. He also took over Malahide Castle in the summer with special guest Van Morrison.
