‘Winter Notes’ – a song from their last album – was used on the soundtrack of television series 24 but this Toronto quintet headed up by vocalist/guitarists Liz Hysen are unlikely to have Hollywood queuing to use their bleak, lo-fi post-folk. That said, uncompromising and often abrasive songs such as ‘Common Cold’ and the downright scary ‘Teeth and No Eyes’ have definite appeal while the Nico-like 'Hysen' weaves no little magic in the vocal department.
