MBV release new album
Sonic cathedrals? Check! Ethereal shards of noise? Check! Warm blankets of sound? Check! Sorry, just making sure we’ve got all our early ‘90s shoegaze cliches working.
The very good news is that after a mere 22 years, My Bloody Valentine have released the follow up to Loveless online.
This historic happening took place late on Saturday night, with http://www.mybloodyvalentine.org offering the nine-track mbv in the following formats:
“180 gram vinyl + CD + digital download of your choice
CD + digital download of your choice digital
Download of your choice. The digital download will be available in the following file types: 16bit 44.1 K WAV file (cd quality) 320kbps MP3 24bit 96 K WAV file.”
For a while it was easier to break into the Bank Of Ireland than access the site, but the teething troubles have now been sorted out and we digitally downloaded our €12.50 MP3 copy in around five minutes. It’s very much MBV business as usual, with their trademark woozy guitars, multi-tracked FX-laden vocals and some real audio fireworks on the last three songs. We’ll have a full review of the album tomorrow – shoegaze clichés doubtless included – but for the time being have a listen yourself and let us know what you think at [email protected].
