Luas to Strike on Day of Springsteen Croker Gig
More strike action coming down the tracks from Luas drivers on a number of dates during May and June.
SIPTU have issued notice of further strike action on the Luas network. This latest notice includes a 24 hour strike on Friday May 27th, the same day Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are scheduled to play their first of two gigs in Croke Park.
The strike on May 27th will be the eleventh since talks broke down between union reps and network operator Transdev over pay. It will see the network grind to a halt when around 80,000 Springsteen fans will descend on the capital. The Croke Park gigs are the blue collar rock icon's first in Ireland since Nowlan Park in Kilkenny in 2013.
As well as this a series of work stoppages will take place on June 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10. These stoppages will see drive striking for four hours at a time to disrupt the network from 9am or 3pm on alternating dates.
