Lorde releases special 'Enhanced Album' version of Solar Power on Spotify
The 'Solar Power' rollout has another fun new addition.
Not content with just releasing her first album in four years, Lorde has shared another version of Solar Power exclusively on Spotify.
The "Enhanced" version of the New Zealand pop superstar's follow-up to Melodrama includes behind-the-scenes audio and video detailing the process behind the record.
The streaming service's Enhanced Album series aims to allow fans to "immerse themselves in the inspiration, stories and creativity" behind selected releases.
Spotify states the album's bonus features include "a combination of exclusive images and video content narrated by Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor from her own deeply magical adventures in nature, most of which took place in New Zealand – all of which directly inspired Solar Power."
Hot Press' Lucy O'Toole praised Lorde's new album in our review today, writing, "Big statement records have been replaced by a search for intimacy and connection – with many pop artists engaged in an ongoing tug-of-war between escapism and social consciousness.
With Solar Power, Lorde is exploring the nuances and contradictions between the two, with poetic ruminations on fame, family, love and growth."
The singer is also Hot Press' cover star for our latest issue, out now.
In a special interview, she talks about creating a "surreal" version of New Zealand with her music videos.
Speaking to Paul Nolan, she said "while they’re not depicting New Zealand, the place where I live and where I’m from, it’s a surreal kind of version of that. It’s totally pristine, and it was important to me to wink at that. There’s a huge amount of idealism being where I’m from, and probably where you’re from also."
