Living In The Present Future
Swedish-born Cherry's follow-up to the million selling Desireless, is a safe continuation of the same theme.
Swedish-born Cherry's follow-up to the million selling Desireless, is a safe continuation of the same theme. Living In The Present Future is a collection of thirteen radio-friendly, reasonably competent and not very exciting tracks. Cherry likes to keep it simple, so the arrangements are of the straight forward, no frills variety. Instead, we get a lot of melody and ambitious lyrics.
Cherry is a pretty decent songwriter and the simplistic approach is probably wise, but there is a certain heart and soul lacking. Not even the contributions from Carlos Santana and big sister Neneh manage to lift this production above the mediocre.
There are a couple of hits in here, but as an album, it will sink.
