LISTEN: Japanese Breakfast covers Sufjan Stevens' 'Romulus'
The floaty cover stays true to the original.
Japanese Breakfast has shared a mellow cover of Sufjan Stevens' 'Romulus'. The song is taken from Stevens' 2003 album Michigan.
The singer delivers the floaty cover over a fiddle, acoustic guitar and piano, retaining the song's original simplicity. The cover was recorded for SiriusXMU. Japanese Breakfast – aka Michelle Zauner – released her latest album Jubilee recently. In a rave review, Hot Press called it "a bombastic return".
This cover follows a live rendition of Dolly Parton's 'Here You Come Again', which Zauner performed while on tour.
Zauner also recently released her memoir Crying In H Mart. The book is expected to be adapted into a film, and her soundtrack for the indie game Sable is also expected to be released this September.
