Leonard Cohen musical premieres
Leonard Cohen fans may be interested in Who By Fire, the Watertowne Theatre Company’s new play.
It is being performed in the Belltable Arts Centre, Limerick (June 10); Excel Theatre, Tipperary (11); Royal Theatre, Castlebar (13); Garage Theatre, Monaghan (14); Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge (15); and the Olympia Theatre, Dublin (June 18 to 23).
The story of a woman inmate who returns to Auschwitz in 1990, its creator is John MacKenna, who made a number of radio documentaries in the ‘90s with Cohen, and has been granted his approval to re-write ‘First We Take Manhattan’ as ‘First We Take The Reichstag’.
That and other Lennie classics will be performed by a three-piece band as the 15-strong cast do their thing on stage.
