Kojaque is back with soulful new single 'BAMBI'

The video marks Kojaque's first new solo material since his hit 2021 debut album, Town's Dead.

Dublin rapper and producer Kojaque has dropped a sleek new single 'BAMBI', featuring Leeds jazz collective Gotts Street Park.

Marking the Irish artist's first new solo music since his hit debut album Town's Dead, which was released in 2021 and charted in the top 5 in Ireland, the new song marks the beginning of a new era for the fascinating rapper.

"It’s about missing your chance and what remains after that," said Kojaque about the 'BAMBI', which he describes as one of his "favourite songs [he's] written." The song is filled with braggadocio while simultaneously bares its soul, reflecting a style that is completely Kojaque's own.

He spoke about his collaboration with the band Gotts Street Park, who have produced songs for the likes of Kali Uchis, Celeste and Irish rapper Rejjie Snow.

"It was around Covid times," he said about the song, "and I had come back to London early after Christmas because our landlord was evicting us. The melody came there and then, and I finished the verses on the train back East. I had Ryan Hargadan play the sax line over it to tie everything together, but the mood of the instrumental fit the lyrics perfectly."

Kojaque first entered the Irish music scene with his genre-bending concept record Deli Daydreams, which became the first ever mixtape to be nominated for the Choice Music Prize. In the years following, he demonstrated his versatility by co-founding Soft Boy Records, which was covered in a Boiler Room documentary, and received a prestigious Royal Hibernian Academy Award for his filmmaking. But his true break came when he released his debut album Town's Dead in 2021, which received widespread acclaim not just in Ireland but around the world.

He also toured globally with artists including Lana Del Rey and Loyle Carner and has played festivals ranging from Glastonbury, Pitchfork Paris and Primavera to headlining this year’s Body & Soul.
