KNEECAP to release 3CAG mixtape on vinyl
The vinyl is set for release September 25.
KNEECAP have announced that their 3CAG mixtape will be released on vinyl on September 25.
3CAG is KNEECAP’s debut self-released mixtape, featuring eight tracks such as ‘C.E.A.R.T.A,’ ‘Amach Anocht’ and ‘Bouncers.’
“It’s been a mad aul time since we made this one back in 2018 from a hazy attic on Hawthorn Street, West Belfast,” the artists wrote on Instagram.
The title of their 2018 mixtape 3CAG is a coded acronym for MDMA, as they explain in ‘Incognito’: “Trí chonsan agus guta” [“Three consonants and a vowel”].
It will be available in black vinyl as well as a special clear edition.
‘C.E.A.R.T.A,’ one of the songs featured on the mixtape, is KNEECAP’s debut single, released in late 2017. The track was inspired by a piece of graffiti calling for Irish language rights.
KNEECAP are currently on their Fenian Tour, with dates across Europe. They have a set scheduled at All Together Now Festival on August 1 and a headline charity concert at Falls Park in Belfast August 6 as part of the Féile an Phobail festival.
Last month they released a remix single ‘Cold at the Top (Shanti Celeste Remix),’ following their second studio album, FENIAN, which debuted at No. 1 on the Official Irish Albums Chart on May 1. The record narrowly missed the No. 1 spot on the UK Albums Chart, landing at No. 2 behind The Essential Michael Jackson.
"The second album’s quick turnaround is an example of artists knowing to strike while the iron is hot," wrote Hot Press in a review of the album. "Quite simply, FENIAN is a triumph. 8/10."
Yesterday, July 28, Tom Morello announced a new album with a song featuring KNEECAP titled ‘Unconquered.’
The 3CAG vinyl is available for pre-sale here.
