KNEECAP announce Palestine mural unveiling
The Hawthorn Street event will include a guest speaker, live music and a fundraiser for Palestine.
KNEECAP will be unveiling a mural for Palestine on Hawthorn Street this Friday, August 9.
Painted by local mural artists, the art piece’s unveiling will also include a guest speaker and live music, as well as a fundraiser for Palestine on the day.
KNEECAP have been long standing supporters of the Palestinian cause, notably boycotting SXSW festival in Austin, Texas due to their U.S. Army sponsorship last spring.
Speaking of their support for Palestinian sovereignty in the new issue of Hot Press, Móglaí Bap said: “Way, way before October 7, you’d have seen Palestinian and Basque flags alongside Irish ones on the Falls Road.
“There’s always been solidarity in West Belfast for other occupied territories.”
KNEECAP’s self-titled film, which was selected as Ireland's Oscar entry last week, is set for release on August 8.
The band also play Electric Picnic on Saturday August 17.
