Jawbox announce first ever Irish gig
The band recently reunited in 2017 after a 20 year hiatus.
Jawbox have announced a gig at Whelan's in Dublin on Tuesday, June 9. It will be the post-hardcore legends' first ever performance in Ireland.
The band were formed in Washington, D.C. in 1989 and released their debut full-length Grippe in 1991. They remained a well-oiled machine throughout a few line-up changes and toured extensively throughout Europe and the U.S. until their 1997 breakup. Except for a one-off Jimmy Fallon performance in 2009, Jawbox remained silent for two decades.
Drummer Zach Barocas brought the band back together in early 2017. A few conversations led to rehearsals and an eventual U.S. reunion tour last summer. The band has now set their sights on Ireland for the first time. The set lists will draw from most of their discography with an emphasis on recordings from the current line up, especially For Your Own Special Sweetheart and Jawbox.
Tickets are €27.00 and will be available this Friday at 9am.
