Janet Jackson Pays Tribute To Late Father
In an emotional tribute during her first live performance since his death, Janet told festival goers that she's still hurting so much that getting up on stage was "really hard" for her... so much so that she thought seriously about cancelling her tour.
“Quite honest, it was really hard for me. I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know how to move forward, if I should cancel this festival or cancel the entire tour," Jackson told the crowd at New Orleans’ Essence Fest.
And then paying tribute to her late father, Joe Jackson she told the crowd: "He was very strong and without his drive, his strength … we wouldn’t have this success. We are a black family that came from Gary, Indiana and we broke all kinds of records around the globe. That’s the truth. My father was a great man.”
